Calendar unblocked by Airbnb

And this is what we get in the UK. Unlimited cancellations but we can’t cancel if we double book.

Strange they have the variation.

Strange…it’s bloody infuriating.

They shouldn’t have different terms in different countries. It leads to confusion for all.

Airbnb Help sent you a Direct Message.

We're very sorry that this occurred. We are here to help resolve this. We've asked for a specialist to contact you and address the instant booking reservation concerns. **No, there is no time frame for cancelling instant book reservations.** We appreciate your patience in this matter while a Case Manager is assigned and updated on your case. Our team is always a DM away if you have any other questions or concerns.

this was one of the messages I received yesterday. I also had it in mind that there was a grace period within which an IB could be cancelled for whatever reason. Doesn’t seem to apply in Ireland/ UK/ Europe?

Hi again, you and others giving me advice was what kept me sane!
Thank you!
I was referring to the “specialist case manager” who was supposed to have helped me, but never quite made it. She wanted to “reach out to me” at 2.30 AM and then disappeared without a trace. Guess I was feeling sarcastic myself.

@Barbara_Plesch - I know this doesn’t help you now, but TuMo gave great advice for the future. I ALWAYS put a super/high price ($1700 US) for any nights I want blocked. Then I block the nights. About once a week I review my calendar to be sure no nights have been unblocked.

This way, I avoid this situation entirely - no one would book at that price.

Exactly what I do…only not as high a $$$.

Honestly, I had never heard of this problem before. One would just assume that a blocked night stays a blocked night, but obviously not so!

@Barbara_Plesch - I would think the same as you - blocked should be blocked (how hard is that???)

Participating in this forum allows me to hear about issues like this before they hit me, and I can learn the ways to avoid them.

Good luck!

But why would she want to use one of her penalty free cancellations when it was Air’s fault/glitch in the system? Or am I missing something?
