Haven’t the Japanese been using these everywhere for decades?
I stayed in an Airbnb that had dedicated bidets in 2 of the 4 bathrooms. None of our group of 8 used them, I think mostly because we aren’t used to them. I added my bidet seat as part of my aging in place remodel that I did for my personal bathroom. I can’t quite get my head around doing it in an airbnb yet.
