We live in Texas but our vacation home is in the Caribbean. The last half of August to the first part of September is “the lowest of the low season” and many properties and hotels/resorts close for maintenance. People don’t think as much about going to hot places when it’s hot where they are, and families with kids are busy in “back-to-school” mode. I recommend you don’t take this as anything other than a seasonal lull.
We had an acrylic coat put on our shower tile where there was black grout and stains that no amount of bleach would take up. Looks brand new now. Not by this company, but this is the same deal

Edited to add picture: All of this grout around the threshold, all the bottom tiles, and where a door used to be on the left was black and gross. We scrubbed the mildew out and bleached and bleached and bleached the grout but the stains were permanent. This is an acrylic coat on top of the original tile.
There’s also some darn cute appliques on Etsy

A mermaid scene how adorable
I had a franchisee from this company redo my 40 plus year old bathtub in my part of the house. It’s fine other than him not being able to get the frozen in drain out. So the rust and peeling is still there. For obvious reasons, given the expense I wouldn’t do it again…for my application only. The actual coating is fine.
Appliance touch up paint?
This is in my part of the house so I don’t really care that much. This and/or touch up paint in my airbnb room would never pass muster. LOL.
Well for what it’s worth, I was very pleased with our results. We got bids to redo the tile that were approaching $8,000. The acrylic coat was a whole lot less than that, under $1000. (It’s a pretty big shower and has a built in bench and really high ceilings.)
I’m sure my displeasure is 100% attached to him not being able to unscrew the drain out. I should have said “attempt that first and if you can’t get it out, forget it.” So for anyone who doesn’t have a similar issue it’s a good temporary fix. Obviously it’s not he same as new tile. My 48 year old tile, btw, looks great which is why it’s still there even though it’s an out of style color. It’s much more of an avocado color than this pic makes it look. I could re-do it myself and may do so this winter if I get bored.
(Okay I better let someone else join the conversation according to Discourse software!)
That’s brilliant, thanks!
