I did come with an honest question and I actually do mean it when I say I hope to become a better person.
Your answer forced me to examine my motives and try to discern whether my goal in making the host initiate the cancellation was to make the world better or worse. I think I know the answer, but thank you for making me think about it.
I don’t consider it vindictive, nor myself vindictive, for asserting that it’s just the host’s need, so the host’s cancelation. I have no information to determine if the host is clueless, selfish, purposely law evading or anything else. I wouldn’t have interest or time to investigate if there is a new reg in the city or if the host is a liar. It is simply the host’s responsibility.
Some of the host stuff is real doozies, too. Saw this one today:
"If LaChana doesn’t confirm by 950pm I’d like to reject her request because it’s been 24hrs ok
Reject offer if not confirmed by 950pm. Please email rejection confirmation ok "
Not only does the host seemingly have no idea how to deal with inquiries or requests, they post this on a discussion forum and think they are talking to CS.
This is what you get when Airbnb tries to encourage everyone and their dog to sign up to be a host.
No problem with Airbnb then as you could never host via Airbnb and demand direct payment. However, you can set up your own website or advertise in other ways in which short term rental owners and managers get bookings.
I’m not sure what you mean by “hardcash.” It doesn’t seem that English is your native language. No way I would stay with a host who demanded payments in cash form. It would have to be on credit card as well as having other protections against a supposed host scamming me.
I’ve accepted cash payments from guests who were already in residence and wanted to extend, or who came to me directly. But of course I never demanded that- I told them it was their option to book through Airbnb.
Had a guest in November who wanted to book again in April. She just transferred $ to my bank account. If I was going to get into having my own website, I would obviously have to have a way to process credit cards, since many guests would want that option with a host and listing they had never stayed at before.
An Airbnb flat in Edinburgh near us has just been closed down it was fully booked for July and August. . It was opperating illegally had several wild parties with 40 pluss teanagers.
