I have noticed more postings in this forum from “university students” who are asking Airbnb hosts to participate in a marketing survey.
I am starting to think, these are scams to gain personal information from us.
Or am I unjustly paranoid?

This happens about 3 times a year near the end of semesters.
If a survey asks for personal information, don’t give it to them. If you don’t want to participate, scroll on. That said, the moderators delete many of them before anyone ever sees them. If a survey offers a monetary reward then obviously they need some of your “personal info” to send it.
Having your real name, picture, Airbnb listing and website on this public forum doesn’t make you seem very paranoid.
I don’t think that they are a scam but I do think that sometimes it’s a very lazy way to develop data. The students have no idea who is answering their surveys. A responder can say that they’ve been hosting for ten years when actually they started last week. They can say that they spend 50 hours a week looking after their listing when in fact they don’t at all.
Etc. etc.
Information gained from an online survey, responded to by complete strangers, is absolutely no good whatsoever.
That’s true of most surveys. In polling it’s called “halo effect” which refers to people’s tendency to lie on the survey. In politics for example people say they voted at a higher rate than they actually did and they also say they voted for the winner. LOL.
And if they ask my age group, I usually pick the one below my real age
I pick the one above so it even out!
I’ve participated in two from these forums, both paid in Amazon gift cards that were of sufficient value for my time. I wouldn’t participate in anything for free, nor for a “chance” at a giveaway prize, which I find the silliest lure of all.
As I said in the other topic, book me for a night and I’m all yours. Otherwise, just make it up fella…

In that case I would first need to see a picture before I decide if it’s worth my money .
There are obviously no depths to your shallowness, you filthy minded fecker
