That’s really interesting… because the headwinds in Canada blowing against American travel are quite real, and you are somehow bucking them. When I started this thread what I was wondering was whether the Canadian “Airbnb tourist” (whatever that is ) would behave differently from the mainstream tourist market. Data from a single host doesn’t make a trend, but when your experience flies against the larger (and very real) trend it leaves me curious.
I grew up in Montreal, and people thought of visiting New England as visiting our own back yard, not like visiting a “foreign country.”
However I saw a local TV news report about an innkeeper on Old Orchard Maine who is worried about going bankrupt because Canadians who have visited repeatedly every year are phoning and sincerely apologizing for (reluctantly) cancelling… so that contradicts my “It’s just New England, so it doesn’t count” theory.
I don’t have an answer, but your counter-trend experience this spring is fascinating.
How real?
From today’s headlines, – more bad news for American hospitality industry
How about just loss of business due to MAJOR RECESSION? I just do not think that many formerly well financially adjusted US travelers are going to be out adventuring much after watching their savings crash.
