Then explain me how this technically works?

How can this website give points for using words on another website?

With posting a link this could be possible, but only if there is some kind of tracking number in the url. And I have not found this.

So unless you can proof she is actually getting points/credits or whatever, stop making false accusations.

Here is something from their website.

"Mark your calendars: February 6th 2019: Second annual #BookDirect day!! HOUFY supports #BookDirect and offers guests an opportunity to book directly with a host SAVING on OTA (Online Travel Agency) ā€œService Feesā€ . . . ā€œ#BookDirect is a movement of a group of Hoteliers and property owners trying to educate guests on the advantages of booking directly. The first #BookDirect day was held on February 7th 2018, hoteliers and vacation rental owners come together to mark this inaugural #BookDirect day. One of Houfy’s goals is to connect all these hoteliers and property owners on one platform . . . Houfy’s mission is to cut out the middlemen and to promote #BookDirect . . . How will Houfy make money? We do not expect Houfy to make money in the short term (5Y). All funds received (once this happens 2021 - advertising/other) will be reinvested in the project. . . Houfy will stay free forever to list your property . . . Our plan is to share Houfy ownership with members who participate in our growth. We are currently assigning points/shares to all our members.ā€

Folks want to work for Houfy? Great! Godspeed. But what we have asked again and again and again is to keep it to a minimum - this forum is focused on Airbnb.

Agreed. This forum is titled Airhost but most of us come together to promote and help each other in our personal rental journey.

I started on ABB but realized, through posting and recommendations on this forum, that staying only on ABB would be foolish. They are too guest-centric. I have a FB page, a Houfy page, my own site, ABB and VRBO. I’d do more if I had time.

Thank you for saying this @Chris. We need to support each other. If a member doesn’t like hearing about Houfy from @cabinhost or others, scroll on. If they don’t like hearing about @KKC’s set up, scroll on. If they don’t like someone else’s nasty brand of snark, scroll on. If they don’t like my overabundance of emojis, scroll on. (But that’s crazy there …)

We can be welcoming and help others or we can tank this forum. I, for one, would like to have people stick around and learn. But if any hosts don’t agree, please! scroll on.

You seem to forget that this is a moderated forum, but believe it or not - despite all the complaining in some corners - it is moderated with very, very, very light hand. Little is ever deleted or locked. We had enough complaints from users that marketing of Hoo-Fee , or whatever, was getting to be too much. We stepped in. You may want to check the FAQ about the role of unpaid moderator.

Cabin has pledged to stop sharing stories and we will hold her to that. I encourage all of you interested in that platform to indeed follow her to the Facebook group. Happy Hoo-feeing … over there.

My god…you didn’t just say " moderated with light hand".
Moderators actually delete here on every day basis posts they don’t like . I was advices in private messages to go to another form because I create a lot of drama …it’s the same people all the time like 5 of them who jump in the minute KKC or such don’t like what I said . Please…moderators don’t deserve so much attention and discussion about them . The only reason why it’s happening because they go over their heads and become mean .
We spend here way more than nessesary time to argue with them then actually getting something useful out of this forum

Sorry, Yana, but it isn’t true. We delete or don’t approve the posts of dozens of spammers who try to post every day. We don’t delete the posts of users unless they are flagged and /or violate the terms of service with abusive language or ad hominem attacks. It is rare.

I’d also like to remind everyone, (yes, me and the other moderators too) that this site actually belongs to someone. This isn’t a service simply provided for anyone to rattle on about anything they want.

We are all guests here. We have no rights to be here, we’re not paying for being able to use this forum service, we are guests.

Therefore we should be respectful of our host and keep this forum in line with the guidelines that were set out when the site first started. And speaking here to Airbnb hosts, isn’t that what we all want? Our guests to be responsible and respectful of our places?

We expect it so we should give it.

If we’re not doing, then what are we showing the world about our standards, our hosting skills and what we expect from our own guests?

100% correct.

Thank you. That is a truth that we all need to heed.

Personally, in addition to Tom’s recent call out for moderator applications, I’d like to see @tom2 and @Cyn be more active as moderators. They are experienced hosts, and I’d love their opinions more.

Some posters & moderators are out of line, others just fade away and never come back. If we want our houses to be welcoming, our words should be too. I will never post anything that I wouldn’t say, or that I would be ashamed of if my boss, daughter, or grandma were to see it. This is a public forum and in today’s digital world, no matter how careful you are, you can most likely be found. I try to post with that in mind, as scary as that feels.

It’s very true. All of you go around and hide posts you don’t like. Even recently KKC hid one of the posts and made it visible again after complains . Please…everyone see what you are doing and attacking people especially new people who come here and leave because they are afraid to post anymore .
I couldn’t care less…attack me as much as you want …but other people just leave because of moderators on this forum …Helsi and such .

You’ve had your say and then some. I’m locking this thread for now, but it’s here for all to read. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I have talked to our group of mods and we will take the steps to welcome our new guests from now on. If you have any more suggestions please PM me. Posting this in an unrelated thread does not add any value.

Thanks,

Hi Caelleai,
You’re right – Cyn and I should be more active. As do most hosts here, we also have full time jobs in addition to hosting, so that’s why we haven’t been as active as we have.
I’ll take the commitment to check the forum an contribute on a daily basis.
Best,

Tom
