No-I didn’t offer my services. I wasn’t a good fit for their needs. I simply mentioned the program.
The only real pushback I’ve gotten is from people selling their services.
TopSail island host group, host asked for assistance & I offered free help through Airbnb & was immediately accused of being a scammer by two women who will gladly help you get started for $500-$2000 depending upon how much help you need.
A Vacasa rep told one of my new hosts that she had never heard of such a thing and I was a scammer.
These People were ruthless over money.
Btw-any host working one:one to help a new host get started can apply for the new host referral fee which is the same amount.
I did understand that you weren’t drumming up business for yourself, just suggesting to another host that that service was available.
It sounded like the regular hosts in the group blocked you- makes sense, though, that it was the greedy know-it-alls charging way too much for their “expertise”, who probably know way less about hosting than you do, who pushed back.
There was a woman on another forum trying to promote herself as a “stager”, under the guise of sharing how to take great Airbnb photos. The example photos she posted were exactly the kind of photos you don’t want for an Airbnb- the ones that distort the space and make rooms look 3 times larger than they actually are, with giant bunches of expensive flower bouquets everywhere.
The kind of photos that will lead to low accuracy ratings when the guests discover how small the rooms are and there’s no bouquets.
Hi all, I am a new host-to-be and when I was searching for the Ambassador program details, I somehow landed on this forum, which looks like a good community.
@Annet3176 where are you located? I am from Houston TX.
Hi Comfy. Welcome!
I’m in SC with a coastal area remotely hosted condo (7 years on Airbnb).
There are hosts on this forum in Texas.
Any Airbnb host ambassador can help you get started.
For example I’m happy to help but I won’t know your local regulations & entertainment offerings. I could help with probably 80-90% of your build.
A host Ambassador in your area is the best choice. I’ve connected with new hosts on Facebook groups.
This forum is an excellent resource for getting answers to some of the quirkier things that happen and for some lively debates. Enjoy searching & reading the posts.
You are new to this forum so a direct message isn’t possible yet.
If you are interested in me assisting you, I’m sure we can figure out how to connect. Btw-I will gladly provide a reference of someone I’ve helped get started.
Here is an Airbnb link about the Host Ambassador program.
Regardless of the path you take & Ambassador you choose, watch out for people who want to charge you a consulting or subscription fee. Also there are several good “getting started on Airbnb” videos on YouTube. Unfortunately there are some bad ones too but even those have grains of good information.
