Airbnb errors hit Superhost status again

When Russia invaded Ukraine some superhosts “gave” their bonus to Ukraine hosts by booking a stay, using their bonus and obviously, not staying there. My guess is that’s what Ola did.

Ahh, I see. Very nice.

“Paltry” is a word I’ll be keeping in my personal dictionary, forever associated with Airbnb. Thank you again!
I voluntarily gave them a 15% commission, even though I wasn’t required to—and that was a huge mistake. They hit me twice. I truly believe hosts should never trust Airbnb’s Terms of Service, unless they’re influencers or attorneys. The only thing Airbnb really fears is being publicly labeled as systematic thieves—which, frankly, is what they are.

That’s the long and short of it. 100 dollars (not euros!) which you need to get round to spending.

Wouldn’t it be nice if Airbnb allowed superhosts to accumulate the savings rather than lose them after a year? Oddly, since my wife passed a couple of years ago I tend to not take formal vacations, or have other reason to book other STR’s. So, we’ve lost out on several years of the ‘bene’s’.

A host friend of mine has used hers to book a caravan on the beach only a 15 minute drive from her house as a nice break from her daily routine. You don’t necessarily have to have a “formal vacation” to use the voucher.

Not sure what a formal vacation is…

It would of course be nice, but many entities, like airlines, have expiry dates on vouchers and credits. They actualy count on a certain percentage of them not being used before expiry.

Well done Ola - i have done similar with Ukrainian superhosts for the past 3 years. I urge anyone who is not going to use their Superhost $100 voucher to do similar - Ukraine has been battered & bullied by the Russian bear for too long. $100 in Ukraine goes a long way.

The bonus is not a reward but rather an incentive to make a reservation and spend money with them otherwise they could just pay us this “bonus” in cash which would be much more appreciated as I don’t think that more than 50% are even redeemed (perhaps even less).

Studies about gift cards suggest that 30% are not being redeemed and that’s often much easier to spend than an accommodation reduction.

Maybe 15 yrs? Airbnb was founded in August 2008… Sorry, I am a bit of a stickler for details! But congrats on such a long host-ship…
:hugs:

Agree, I used it for myself.

It’s just an innocent glitch - definitely not as dangerous as those so-called ‘glitches’ on Airbnb that send hosts straight to hell.
