Airbnb changes prices on web sites

airbnb suddenly upped the rates on my websites between -3 and +3%. Rates shown on web sites no longer coincide with calendar rates nor texts on web sites. The same has happened to a friend of mine. She contacted airbnb 4 times and each time was told that airbnb would look into it and remedy the situation, but nothing has happened. No explanation either!

Currency exchange is the answer. My nightly rates keep changing since brexit.

Thanks, Paul, but why? I deal with airbnb in USD, my prices on my calendars are in USD, and I look at my websites under USD, not another currency. So there should be no varying exchange rate, Brexit or not. I can understand why the GBP or EUR may change on the website, but USD? Could you explain further?

Which websites are these?

By “which”, what to you mean? Links? Country? The apartments/rooms are all in Mexico.

All I know is, a lot of my guests pay in Euros (I’m in the UK), and they round up or down to get it the closest to what it is in Euros and sometimes its means lowering my rate by 1 Pound.

This is what I have been told by Airbnb, because I did enquire about it just after brexit when it started moving around and the value of the Pound decreased against the Euro. But when they pay in GBP I get the rate that I have selected.

Not really sure how to explain it in detail.

Thanks. As I said, with GBP etc. I understand it, but with USD I just don’t.

Yeah I think the only option is to keep bugging Airbnb for an answer. I bet if they do answer you’ll get a completely different answer to what I got. I swear they are not trained sometimes. rollseyes

I will. Thanks. Petra

Yes, I have just started having the same problem here in Ireland. The headline price shown against my property for open dates bears no relation to the daily rate or even the daily rate plus fees… no idea what is going on. I am priced in Euro. Also my enquiries have just dried up all of a sudden.
