@JJD While lots of people have turned their lives around after convictions for things like theft, assault, fraud, and so on, and I think shouldn’t have to go through life being judged by that, sex offenses, particularly regarding children, are in a different category, because the research has shown that those people aren’t curable- their brains are hard wired for that.
They can go through all sorts of therapy, know how vile their crimes were, and not want to be like that, but the only realistic approach is for them not to be in any situation where they could ever be alone with a child.
Interesting. So Airbnb never canceled the reservation from the second person, so we ended up hosting them. They were great guests and left the house very clean. Glad they came.
This just happened to me. And unfortunately for the guest it was flagged incorrectly. They were able to prove to me that they weren’t a criminal and instead booked with me through VRBO. They’ve since resovled the issue with AirBnB and have already booked a second stay, they were excellent guests.
What annoyed me is that this guest had been booked for over a month and just a week out AirBnb cancels and potentially leaves me with an open weekend without any compensation!
How would I know it’s illegal? That information is online.
How would I know he’s a sex offender? That information is also online.
I don’t normally look but when his reservation got cancelled, I got curious. I knew his first and last names, the location on his profile and the location that he said he was coming from. Easy peasy. (No privacy for the wicked) .
