But note that they say 'IF [emphasis added] we have at least an accurate first name, last name . . ."
So I don’t take much comfort BUT they do say they verify the identity of each guest and host:

You are correct however I think most people, guests and hosts, operate under the assumption that Air is at least collecting government IDs. However, as of May 2022, the only “verification” they do is require either a valid email address or phone number. That was the same time the option for “require government ID” was replaced with “good track record.” Which, honestly, could not be more ambiguous because they’ve never told us what that criteria includes. Everyone has an opinion but we actually do not know.

They made noise last fall about starting to collect true IDs on guests and hosts but nothing ever came of it to my knowledge.

I had never uploaded govt. ID. I never travelled as a guest and never required my guests to have verified ID, although the vast majority of them did.

A few months ago I got an Airbnb message to add govt. ID, saying I had to in order to continue to receive payments, so I did. (I simply hadn’t done so when I first signed up as a host and had then never bothered to, not because I had any particular reason not to want to.)

This is encouraging to hear. Maybe they are starting to follow through.

When I first signed up as a guest in 2015 it was mandatory. I could not complete the registration without uploading my drivers license.

You should make arrangements for changing sheets & swapping out towels about every 7-10 days… Consider cleaning the bathroom & floors…
