First - this is a community of airbnb HOSTS. Guests are regularly trashed and vilified here (not really but seriously, expect no sympathy when YOU complain about someone who is working hard to pay their mortgage, their car payment, or their groceries).
Second - we are really, really happy when you leave airbnb.com for other STR sites; you folks who think that the costs of maintaining the extra extra cleaning regimen that we do before each stay should be free to a guest, or that it is a ‘fee’ that does not compare to the myriad ‘fees’ that hotels charge; folks who want discounts before they come or after they arrive; folks that complain that ‘house rules’ are a bad thing, especially when they do not fit in the guest’s theory of STR management. No, we hosts do NOT read your complaints and think to ourselves "these are valid and we need to change’; we hosts read your complaints and think “thank you SO much for NOT staying with US, and we hope you leave the platform, since that means we have less PITAs and Karens to potentially torture us.”
I can’t speak for all hosts, but I feel I can speak for hosts like us - STRing our private home to strangers, on our knees cleaning corners and lint-rolling bedspreads, hoping that we do not have the clueless guest or the sloppy guest or the angry guest.
And no, your need to have a room at 85º or 55º or thinking you need a TV in your private room left on all night across the hall from someone sleeping or that your desire to cook with onions in a toaster oven at 3am is not something that hosts ‘should’ accommodate.
Please, if any of these guest traits are recognizable to you, don’t bother coming here - just leave and go to booking.com or VRBO and torture them.
Thanks!
