Personally, I quite like having a key to the guest bedroom when staying with a host. Maybe I’m deluded, but I figure if the house gets broken into, thieves are more likely to take the hosts’ stuff and less likely to take mine if they have to break down an extra door to get it.
I’ve had my backpack stolen in the past because thieves use them to shove stuff into.
Here is a link to my listing. The big black dog loves everyone as long as I introduce them to her. She is extremely vocal about anyone coming to our house until I tell her that it’s okay. I think she’s much better protection for stuff than a lock.
