Guest left but didn't cancel

A first time user booked for a week iwth his family. Stayed one night and decided they’d prefer a hotel. He put in a request to change the reservation which I refused and wrote to him through Airbnb telling him he’d need to cancel.
He said the amount he was going to get back wasn’t right so he didn’t cancel. His booking should have ended in Saturday and today Airbnb write to tell me they are refunding him out of my future bookings.
As he didn’t cancel I couldn’t relet the rooms and now well out of pocket. Anything I can do?

What is your cancellation policy set to?

It was moderate, they’ve only refund the amount as if he had cancelled.

what did he tell them about you place?

For moderate they state:
“If the guest arrives and decides to leave early, 50% of the accommodation fees for the nights not spent 24 hours after the cancellation occurs are refunded.”

Is that what will be refunded? I suspect he called Air and you need to find out from them what is going on.
